The Global Game Jam is a worldwide event where small teams of developers make a full game from start to finish on a common theme in the course of 48 hours (so fast!).

I've done the Global Game Jam every year since 2016, where I made my first game in Unity (as a solo programmer at that, what a scary weekend that was!). I've worked on a variety of different types of teams of developers, some novices and some experienced, some I had known for years and some I met at the start of the jam, some living in my home and some living in other continents.

The Global Game Jam has often been an outlet for me to work on new projects and take new risks. I've had many great memories of suffering one weekend a year, whether I'm one of many programmers on a team or the only one, or composing the music, or staying up until ungodly hours of the morning just to make sure that easter egg where you can set your teammate on fire to win the game is fully functional (I have no regrets), it's always a great experience and a very educational one at that. It's also just so fun to work really hard and feel like you accomplished something with a group of people. A great bonding exercise (especially if you're into struggle)
